BRISTOL BAY SOCKEYE SALMON
Bristol Bay Sockeye Salmon is the consumer brand for all commercially harvested sockeye salmon from the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. Our mission is to tell the story of Bristol Bay salmon that comes from a wild and pristine ecosystem, and is home to the largest source of wild sockeye on the planet.

Bristol Bay Sockeye Salmon tells this story by working with all of the processors, distributors, grocery stores, chefs, restaurants, and fishermen direct marketers who sell commercially harvested sockeye salmon from Bristol Bay. We also tell the story directly to consumers through digital and online platforms, social media, public relations and influencer partnerships.
The brand is managed by the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association. The BBRSDA is funded by the 1,800+ drift gillnet fishermen who own permits to commercially fish in Bristol Bay with the mission of raising the value of the fishery for its members through programs related to quality, marketing, sustainability and outreach.
SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is the driving force in Alaska’s fishing industry. A commitment to sustainable fishing practices requires time, resources, science-based research, and enforcement of rules. Indeed, all of those things are practiced and demonstrated both during the frenetic weeks of the Bristol Bay salmon run, as well as throughout the rest of the year, as data is compiled and analyzed. The size of Bristol Bay’s salmon runs prove the sustainability and success of this approach.
