CELEBRATE WILD ALASKA, ITS 50 MILLION SOCKEYE SALMON, AND its FISHERMEN

This September 8th – 14th, restaurants across Washington, D.C. will feature wild Bristol Bay Sockeye Salmon on their menus.
This culinary celebration connects wild sockeye salmon from Alaska’s wild
western coastline to exceptional restaurants in the nation’s capital. Each restaurant creates their own unique dish with Bristol Bay Sockeye at the center, offering a wide range of flavors for restaurant guests to experience all week long throughout the District.
Since 2019, over 40 local chefs and restaurants have helped us bring the sustainability story of Bristol Bay, the largest wild salmon run on earth, to Washington D.C. diners. Join us this year by visiting a participating restaurant during DC Salmon Week to support American fishing families and healthy sustainable seafood with your fork.
WHY SUPPORT Bristol Bay SOCKEYE?
Bristol Bay, Alaska supports the largest wild salmon run on the planet. Spectacular, vast, and thriving, it is home to thousands of fishermen and millions of wild salmon. In 2025, over 55 million salmon returned to this special place. The pristine environment has been the foundation for 130 years of sustainable harvesting by generations of small boat fishermen.
Bristol Bay produces completely wild, clean, and nutrition-packed sockeye salmon. Naturally ruby red color and extremely versatile, Bristol Bay Sockeye Salmon is a delicious and sustainable ingredient that chefs will love to cook with and consumers will love to eat!

SALMON CELEBRATION IN WASHINGTON D.C.

Bristol Bay is recognized well beyond the eating scene of Washington D.C. each year. Every September, the Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC), along with numerous partners, hosts the annual Bristol Bay Wild Salmon Celebration in the nation’s capital. Coinciding with Salmon Week, this event celebrates the fish, water, and people of Bristol Bay, home to the world’s most prolific commercial wild sockeye salmon fishery that is responsible for producing more than half of the sockeye sold worldwide. The event is attended by Alaska’s Congressional Delegation, BBNC board members and staff, and other supporters of salmon. The event also recognizes and congratulates new Fish First awardees each year.
